Video Music Awards: About

The 35th annual MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) will be held on Tuesday, August 21 at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, NY, where the awards were held for their first two years (1984-1985). Check out the full list of nominees.

The VMAs were also held at Radio City in 1994-1997, 2000, 2002-2003, 2006 and most recently 2009, so it's been nine years since the awards were last held at the iconic venue.

The 2018 MTV Video Music Awards will be happening on Tuesday, August 21 at 9:00am (SG/MY/PH), just after the red carpet pre-event special at 8am. Encore starts at 7pm.

Stick around after the awards ceremony and you'll also get the first glimpse at MTV Spotlight @ Hyperplay at 10pm!

The annual MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) delivers the definitive celebration of the year's best music videos. With unparalleled performances and watershed moments, the VMA provides an open forum for artistry and expression that leaves an indelible mark on culture.

Signature awards include "Video of the Year" and the "Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award" which most recently was bestowed upon Rihanna, Kanye West, Beyonce and Justin Timberlake, among others. The show airs across MTV's global network of channels and social platforms in more than 160 countries and territories, reaching more than half a billion households around the world.

This year, you can expect the likes of Ariana Grande, Cardi B, Travis Scott, Nicki Minaj, Stranger Things' Millie Bobby Brown and many others to take the stage, along with Jennifer Lopez, who is this year's recipient of the "Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award".
