Video Music Awards: About

The annual MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) delivers the definitive celebration of the year's best music videos. With unparalleled performances and watershed moments, the telecast provides an open forum for artistry and expression that leaves an indelible mark on culture. Signature awards include "Video of the Year" and the "Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award" which most recently was bestowed upon Rihanna, Kanye West, Beyonce and Justin Timberlake, among others. The show airs across MTV's global network of channels and social platforms in more than 160 countries and territories, reaching more than half a billion households around the world.

Check back here as we reveal details and news leading up to the 2018 Video Music Awards. The 35th annual event will be held on Tuesday, August 21 at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, NY, where the awards were held for their first two years (1984-1985). The VMAs were also held at Radio City in 1994-1997, 2000, 2002-2003, 2006 and most recently 2009, so it's been nine years since the awards were last held at the iconic venue.

Last year it was Katy Perry who hosted and performed at the star-studded show, alongside Miley Cyrus, The Weeknd, Ed Sheeran, Shawn Mendes, Fifth Harmony, Lorde, and Thirty Seconds to Mars!
