Description

“VH1 DIVAS” returns with a tribute to the cities where soul gave birth to music’s most powerful classics and inspired some of the world’s top musical talents. The 2011 event showcases the vast impact soul music has had on the 21st century’s music and pop culture landscape.

The talented and diverse lineup at VH1 DIVAS Celebrates Soul provided a modern twist on soul music, while tipping their hats to the legacy of five key cities that created this musical heritage. Mary J. Blige, Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson, Jessie J, Florence + The Machine and Jill Scott headlined the list of stars who paid homage to the legendary heritage of soul music founded in cities like Chicago, Detroit, London, Memphis and Philadelphia.

Everyone's favourite house band The Roots provided the backing music for the night. Chaka Khan, Erykah Badu, Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, Boyz II Men, Estelle, Marsha Ambrosius and Travie McCoy graced the stage during a night of memorable moments and unforgettable performances!
