Art Breaks Brings Up-and-Coming Artists to MTV. Groundbreaking work by innovative video artists is coming to a TV near you.
It isn’t easy for emerging artists to get exposure these days—much less to show their work to millions of people. But starting on April 16, viewers around the world will be able to catch video art pieces by up-and-coming young artists while watching MTV. These groundbreaking works were commissioned and curated by the arts organizations Creative Time and MoMA PS1 for MTV’s new series Art Breaks.
Art Breaks features the work of 10 creative talents who created pieces especially for the series. Hailing from everywhere from New York to Amsterdam to Tehran, and inspired by everything from gender identity to language to mixtapes, these artists express themselves in vastly different ways—but what they have in common is that each one has a unique and exciting vision. Throughout the year, MTV will showcase each artist’s work in turn.
