Description

As the only award show to honor and highlight the music voted 'best' by the US college audience the 2011 mtvU Woodie Awards found a fitting home in Austin, TX during the South By Southwest Music Festival.

Host Donald Glover freestyled and swagged his way through an evening filled with unforgettable music and performances. The Foo Fighters kicked off the show with their performance of "Rope," which struck a chord that music was the star of the night. Wiz Khalifa, Two Door Cinema Club and Sleigh Bells (with an accompanying marching band of course) also rocked the Woodies stage.

The celebration continued as musicians and celebrities such as Pete Wentz and Liz Lee handed out large chunks of wood to the nights deserving winners including Wiz Kahlifa for Woodie of the Year, Matt & Kim for Performing Woodie, Two Door Cinema Club for Breaking Woodie and more. And who could forget when Kanye West got Kanye'd by Lil B for Left Field Woodie!

But the night undoubtedly belonged to hip hop buzz band Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All who stormed the stage complete with mascots and had to be hauled away by security.

The mtvU Woodie Awards are poised to continue as the definitive award show for college students and the music they care about. Can't wait to see what's in store for 2012.
