'Aladdin' the movie is starring a white prince and fans are flipping mad

11 September 2017
Disney have gone and added a brand new white character to their much-hyped Aladdin remake and the internet reckons they've gone too Ja-far.

Guy Ritchie's reboot of Disneu's 1992 animated classic had already copped some flak after casting Naomi Scott, an actress of non-Arabian descent, to play the iconic Princess Jasmine.

And now, the cries of "whitewashing" are getting louder, with the announcement that Disney have cast Billy Magnussen (from Into The Woods) as "Prince Anders", a brand new character cooked up especially for the remake.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Prince Anders will be a suitor from Skanland, and wannabe hubby for the Princess.

But, understandably, people don't seem to be too on board with the idea of randomly chucking a white dude into a classic movie set in the Middle East (especially after producers reckoned that they simply "couldn't find" a Middle Eastern Jasmine) and the online reactions have been predictably brutal:

Looks like this movie is in ~a whole new world~ of dramamama.
