Looking back one year ago, it's really quite amazing to see just how Busan One Asia Festival 2017 set the stage for the new wave of K-pop that engulfed the world this year.
Busan One Asia Festival is a landmark event in South Korea featuring a week of festivities that celebrate the talents that draw millions of dedicated fans around the world.
The event's opening ceremony alone is a big draw — just look at BLACKPINK dominating the stage. And this is before the 'DDU-DU DDU-DU' BLACKPINK that has since packed arenas and topped charts throughout 2018 (they're also making their way to our side of the world in 2019).
We're happy to announce that the thrills of Busan One Asia Festival 2017 are now available FREE on MTV Play, a mobile app we've rolled out in Singapore that features dozens of MTV's classic and current TV shows, plus music goodies like MTV Meets, MTV Jammin', Asia Spotlight and music video playlists. (Download it free for your iOS or Android device, available only in Singapore for now.) We've included English subtitles too, for all you Kpop fans who are still polishing your Korean language skills!
Busan One Asia Festival consists of six concert events, and here's a breakdown of what you can expect to see from each of them — especially since we'll be bringing you this year's BOF pretty soon *wink wink*.
The opening ceremony is certainly one for the ages, with heavy-hitters like the aforementioned BLACKPINK, along with NCT 127 (our former Asia Spotlight artists, who are slowly conquering the world themselves), MOMOLAND, Wanna One, Apink, IKON and more.
Hip Hop Legend Stage
It's not all K-pop, as the Hip Hop Legend Stage has plenty to offer from South Korea's sprawling rap scene, with the likes of Penomeco, Don Mills, Dindin, Suran and more.
All the stars strutting and posing — catch your favourites in their element! Here's an example.
Kpop Legend Stage
Never forget where you're from, and these acts helped to pave the way for the everlasting Hallyu wave.
Featuring an eclectic line-up of performers, the Park Concert is brilliant in itself.
And the conclusion of the Busan One Asia Festival ends things off in a truly epic fashion. A good example? This amazing performance by Taemin.
