Alif and SonaOne's 'Obvious' is the self-esteem boost you need | Yo! MTV Raps

There's nothing like the pure, jubilant magic that comes from a collaboration between two close friends.

It's good enough when we're blessed by a song that benefits from resounding chemistry, but when artists like Alif and SonaOne come onto the mic, it's clear that the chemistry doesn't just exist — it ebbs and flows and wraps itelf onto the song's core, so comfortably that you're drawn in almost immediately.

The song, 'Obvious', transmits the duo's self-confidence into a message aimed at every listener — a pop song that doesn't hide its intentions, and it's as pure as they come.

"We initially wrote this song as an ode to a woman's self-confidence. The more we explored the subject, we realised the message was greater and applied to all walks of life", Alif and SonaOne explain the song.

"Sometimes people get too caught up with what people around them think that they forget to see what's in front of them, or cant realise the little things about themselves that could seem obvious to others".

The resulting music video, directed by Nasri Lian, is another fun romp that lends a conscious, slightly sinister edge, with sequences of people distracted by techology. What does this all come together as? See for yourself above.
