These are China's bold pop stars nominated for an MTV EMA award

18 October 2018

We're keeping things going with the Asian acts up for contention at the 2018 MTV EMA — the first two batches being the Best Korea Act and Best Southeast Asia Act nominees. Now, here's a category that's especially exciting: the best acts out of China.

There are 5 acts contending for the MTV EMA Best Greater China Act, and there's a diverse selection of important voices to choose from.

Here are the acts in the category, which you can vote for here.

Alex To

With more than 30 years of showbiz experience under his belt, Alex To shows no signs of stopping — and his inclusion in this category only affirms his relevance in modern Chinese music, decades into his career.

LaLa Hsu

Winning a singing competition show at age 24, clinching the top prize with a self-composed song, LaLa has established and pushed forward her career with a strong sense of self-assurance and streaks of vulnerability that has gotten her legions of fans.

Loura Lou

A star whose work extends beyond music, being an incredibly successful actress on various TV shows, Loura Lou is now capturing hearts through her melancholic brand of pop music.

Stringer Zhang

Fun fact: her given name 弦子 translates in English to "harp", and perhaps it's fitting that her music's just as elegant and moving as the instrument.

Sulong Wang

His English name is Silence, but Sulong Wang has made a sizeable impact since his debut album Slowly Understand in 2010. If his music doesn't entice you, just take a look at the man's effortless magnetic charm onstage.

Vote for all your fav artists at (Best Greater China Act vote link here) and tune in to catch the event live on November 5th, from 3am (SG/MY/PH). Same-day encore begins from 7pm.
