Fresh off the trail of her mega successful debut solo album What You Waiting For, 2011’s hottest music sensation Mizz Nina is ready to storm planet pop once again in 2012. If other performers have taken baby steps to move forward in their careers, Mizz Nina has grown by leaps and bounds in the quest to elevate her status in the upper echelons of the pop universe with her sophomore album Takeover.
Led by her massive radio hit of the same name, which sees her collaborating with #1 Billboard act Flo Rida, Takeover is set to unleash the many sides of Mizz Nina, emanating girl power, independence, confidence and love. The album also sees her reuniting with Los Angeles based artist and producer Colby O’Donis, who helped make her debut single “What You Waiting For” a smash hit that went on to become the most popular caller ringtone download of 2011. O’Donis is back in the fold to produce two new songs, “Hit Me Up” and “Cup of Love”.
In addition, Mizz Nina also worked with James Freeman and Koolade from Croatia (the producers of Takeover) on new tracks “With You” and “Just Do It”, which were recorded in London. “All of them are amazing producers and songwriters, with just the right formula for the kind of sound and direction I want for my album,” reveals Mizz Nina. “I had such a fun time working with them, constantly learning more and more about the entire producing and recording process.” The rest of the songs on Takeover were recorded at The Singing Shop Studio in KL. Besides English numbers, Mizz Nina has also recorded a Malay tune entitled “Rentak Yang Sama”, which was produced by DJ Goldfish, Blink and written by Mizz Nina’s husband, Noh from Hujan.
Fans of Mizz Nina are in for a special treat as Takeover will be released as a double CD. The first disc will entirely feature newly-recorded songs while the second includes remixes of her biggest hits–a rare treat for music fans in the age of downloads and limited releases. “I can’t believe two years have passed by so quickly since my first album release,” adds Mizz Nina. “What You Waiting For has truly been a huge stepping stone and learning curve for me in the music industry. Now, I am back again for round two in 2012 and it’s only fitting that I do a double disc feature for my Takeover album. I hope this album brings my fans as much joy, encouragement and motivation as it has given me.”
