The first trailer has appeared online for Slender Man, a blockbuster take on the popular online legend of the titular boogieman. And judging by this first look, it's going to be scary stuff…
You might have already have seen HBO's documentary Beware The Slenderman, which charts the true story of a pair of twelve-year-old girls who stabbed a friend 19 times on the supposed orders of the Slender Man. However, it looks like this film won't cover that story, and will be heading down an altogether more supernatural path.
Check out the first trailer, below…
Eerie stuff, although possibly in bad taste, given the tragedy the legend inspired? That's certainly how the father of one of the girls involved, Bill Weier, sees it. "It's absurd they want to make a movie like this," says Weier said. "It's popularising a tragedy is what it's doing. I'm not surprised, but in my opinion it's extremely distasteful. All we're doing is extending the pain all three of these families have gone through."
You can make your own mind up when the film lands in cinemas May 2018.
