And while the pitch sounds too good to be true, Lopez and husband Marc Anthony have signed on to star in another talent search from "Idol" producer Simon Fuller called "Q'Viva! (The Chosen)." The show teams the pair with director-choreographer Jamie King and was described in a press release as an "epic three-month-long journey to create the ultimate live show celebrating Latin music, artistry and dance."
Lopez and Anthony will travel all over the Americas, from big cities to remote villages, and be filmed in three languages. The goal is to assemble a cast of performers of all nationalities who will work together to create "a spectacular live show which will become one of the greatest celebrations of Latin culture that the world has ever seen."
Though no network has been announced yet, the show will be broadcast simultaneously across 21 countries in North America, Central America and South America.
"This is a show for the 21st century with an unprecedented global and local story," Lopez said in a statement. "The Latin culture is a tapestry that is rich in passion, tradition and artistry. We are going to places where all of this talent lives and wouldn't have otherwise been discovered. This journey for me and Marc is going to be exciting and groundbreaking."
Anthony, who has guested as a mentor on "Idol" this year, added of the new venture, "I am really excited about this new endeavor with Jamie and Jennifer. Throughout my travels around the world, I have witnessed and encountered an amazing amount of undiscovered talent. 'Q' Viva!' would provide an outlet to a whole new generation that have been waiting to have their voices heard."
Executive producer Fuller explained that the point of the show is to celebrate the "beauty and splendor of Latin music and dance," and King stressed that the show is not a competition, but more of a talent search.
