Fergie Enlists Pitbull For 'Step Up Revolution' Track

19 July 2012
Fergie and Pitbull are getting the party started on their new club banger, "Feel Alive."

The pounding track will certainly have fans dancing, which is fitting considering that it's featured on the soundtrack to this summer's 3-D dance movie, "Step Up Revolution."

On the track, Fergie's big pipes belt out the chorus, "Wake me up in the morning/ Slow me down in the evening/ Give me whatever you want to make me feel alive," over a bumping beat and dirty-sounding synths.

She later goes on to chant the mantra "I feel alive/ Baby/ I feel alive in this club."

Pitbull gets a bit cheeky on the track, paying homage to Fergie's lines on the Black Eyed Peas' track "Boom Boom Pow," spitting, "I'm so 3000 and great/ They so 2000 and hate/ They want me to fall and fail/ H-h-hurry up and wait." The song also gets an assist from DJ Poet, who offers up some lines about partying in the club, adding, "Let's get galactic." The song was posted on Perez Hilton's website late Tuesday.

While Fergie has been featured on other artists' tracks and focused on her work with the Black Eyed Peas the last few years, this is the first headlining track she has dropped since her 2006 solo album, The Dutchess. That LP spawned inescapable hits like "London Bridge," "Big Girls Don't Cry" and "Glamorous."

Fans shouldn't expect to hear more from her in the near future. When MTV News caught up with Fergie earlier this year, she shared that her focus wasn't on her music.

"I'm more focusing on my other things, like my shoe line, I'm designing for that. I'm really getting to work from home, and I'm loving it," she said. "Having all these creative juices flowing into more girly things and visual and things like that for me.

"I'm always writing, but there's no current plans for a solo record or a Black Eyed Peas record. I was on tour for eight years. My brain's not really there right now," she added. "It's kind of just a machine that kept on moving with no signs of stopping. Finally, it's break time."
