A brand-new 90-second trailer for the film franchise's final installment, which hits theaters November 16, will debut during the show, airing tomorrow, September 7, at 7am (WIB), 8am (SIN/HK/PH/MAL).
The closing chapter of Stephenie Meyer's best-selling series finds a newly turned vampire Bella (played by Kristen Stewart) and her Cullen clan fending off the advances of the villainous Volturi with the help of allies, both cold- and hot-blooded.
Director Bill Condon revealed to MTV News recently during our Fall Movie Preview Week that he's busy putting the final touches on the film.
"We're at the stage of mixing and doing color timing and adding that last big bunch of visual effects shots, and that's where it gets complicated because the [most challenging] ones always come in last, so it's just making sure that they look as good as they can, that's the big thing right now," he said.
"The Twilight Saga" and MTV awards shows share a rich history. In addition to a slew of star appearances and enough Golden Popcorns to empty out an entire Orville Redenbacher processing plant, the first-ever clip from "Twilight" premiered during the MTV Movie Awards pre-show back in 2008, with Robert Pattinson, Stewart and Cam Gigandet in attendance. So, it only seems fitting that MTV be there for the series' swan song.
"The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2," also starring Taylor Lautner, Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed and Peter Facinelli, hits theaters November 16.
The 2012 MTV Video Music Awards are set to go live from Staples Center in Los Angeles on Friday at 7am (WIB), 8am (SIN/HK/PH/MAL).
