Sam Smith Gave His Wax Statue A Smooch – See The Pics

12 August 2015
That moment when you get the chance to encounter yourself immortalized in wax form. That’s exactly what just happened to Sam Smith when he visited Madame Tussauds in San Francisco, California on Monday (August 10). And, as expected, it was totally the “surrealist experience of [his] life.”

Sam, who’d just performed at the Outside Lands Music Festival last night in San Fran — opening for Elton John no less — was honored with his own Madame Tussauds statue today. As one does in this situation, we can only guess, Sam definitely saw the unique photo potential here and posed alongside his selfie sculpture with a big, I-can’t-believe-this-is-actually-happening grin. Cute.

Then, since Sam was among the first people in the world to see and touch the thing, it was still pretty sterile, so he decided to pucker up and plant one on himself. Which means when people follow suit — and surely they will — they’ll kinda be secondhand kissing Smith himself (hey, we said kind of).

And Smith didn’t just cozy up to himself there, either.

He also got the chance to flash a little tongue at the Neil Patrick Harris sculpture …

Then he put his head on Leonardo DiCaprio’s shoulder (captioned: “Me and my new Boyf” because errbody loves Leo).

He went on to give E.T. a ride, get in on the “Sister Act,” and have “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” with Audrey Hepburn, so a pretty eventful day by anyone’s standards.

Smith’s figure is now available for viewing at the San Francisco-based Madame Tussauds but will eventually travel to other U.S. locations.

PS: Just in case you’re as gobsmacked by this entire process as we are, here’s a behind-the-scenes video of Smith getting sized up and photographed for the figure.
