Wiz Khalifa Mourns 20-Year-Old Uncle After Tragic Shooting

10 January 2014
Wiz Khalifa is mourning the loss of his uncle, after a tragic shooting that took place outside of his hometown Pittsburgh on Wednesday night.

The 26-year-old Taylor Gang rapper shared his grief publicly, alerting fans of the sad news with a tweet. "Rest in peace Imani. Your with Allah now," he wrote before elaborating a few minutes later, "My uncle was younger and more level headed than all of us. I would have never seen this happening in a million years."
According to CBS, 20-year-old Imami Porter was shot in the head while sitting in a car in the parking lot of a Steak 'n Shake restaurant near Munhall, Pennsylvania. The shooting took place around 8 p.m., and Porter was rushed to UPMC Mercy Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Detectives were searching for at least two suspects who were spotted in the restaurant's parking lot and reportedly took off on foot after the shooting. By 1:30 p.m. on Thursday (January 9), 17-year-old Jaron Young had turned himself in to authorities.

Officials reportedly found heroin in the victim's car, as well as at the scene of the shooting. "One of the things we look for is motive, and the drugs being present lends itself to some type of illegal activity prior to the shooting," Lt. Andrew Schurman of Allegheny County Police told CBS' KDKA 2 station.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette added that Porter was likely shot during a robbery attempt.

On Thursday morning, Wiz tweeted, "Woke up sleazy. Bong rips for my bro," likely in reference to Porter.
