Janet Jackson is this year’s Global Icon Award winner!

This year's MTV EMA Global Icon award is going to legendary pop and R&B singer Janet Jackson

Janet will celebrate the occasion by performing a medley of her iconic hits including her new single "Made For Now" at the MTV EMA on 4 November. It will be her first ever EMA performance. 

Janet will be joining the ranks of past Global Icon recipients like Whitney Houston, U2 and Green Day. It was only a matter of time before she received the award.

Her music has been loved around the world since the 1980s, when she first began releasing groundbreaking albums like Control and Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814. She's now one of the best-selling artists of all time. Seven of her albums are certified platinum and she's sold over 160 million records.

Janet Jackson has had a huge impact on pop and R&B music. Her legendary music videos, singing style, and socially conscious lyrics have influenced some of the biggest stars in the world including Britney Spears, Beyoncé and Ariana Grande.

Her songs have also been sampled by the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Drake, A Tribe Called Quest and Bryson Tiller.
