Ariana Grande, Jimmy Fallon and The Roots play the DIY Nintendo Labo to perform ‘No Tears Left To Cry’

15 May 2018

Recently released to the public, the Nintendo Labo is an accessory toolkit for owners of the Nintendo Switch, featuring pre-made cardboard cut-outs and other materials that allow them to make controllers of a stunning variety.

From fishing rods to motorcycles, you can experience games made for the platform in new and interesting ways. Some of them are also musical instruments.

With some light ingenuity (and a lot of patience), you can fashion controllers resembling guitars, drums and pianos, and even play them once paired with the Switch.

So seasoned toy instrument players (and incredible hip-hop band) The Roots obviously seized the opportunity with Jimmy Fallon, roping in Ariana Grande to cover her latest single, 'No Tears Left To Cry', with the Nintendo Labo.

There's no twinkly uekeleles or plastic xylophones here, but it's still very, very cool.

Excited about Ariana's upcoming album Sweetener? Here's what we know about it so far.
