Have The 1975 Split Up?

2 June 2015
The 1975 have sparked rumours of a break up after posting a cryptic comic strip online, and later leaving social media completely.

Along with the band’s official accounts, frontman Matt Healy's Twitter and Instagram have also been deleted - 24 hours after he uploaded the cartoon which only remains on their manager’s Twitter.

The illustration reads: “We’ve killed rockstars – just another casualty in the war against art – butchered by our postmodern reflective propensities… The hardest part of any relationship is to say goodbye… As much as we might like to stay the same, change is an inevitable part of life… So we must leave, with a parting ‘we love you’ – we are already gone”.

The artwork also features two women talking about the band with one asking: “Did you hear about The 1975?” in which the other replies “Yeah I’m shook up Man! I wanted that to last forever!”

The Indie rockers also appear to have taken a swipe at NME after the publication crowned them ‘Worst Band’ at their 2014 awards.

Two figures are seen in the animation reading a magazine dubbed ‘Nihilistic Musical Expression’ above the headline: ‘Is This The End For The 1975?!’The posts have sent Twitter into overdrive, with many fans tweeting their dismay:
