All you need to know about HallyuPopFest, the biggest K-pop event in Southeast Asia this year

30 August 2018

Three days inside the Singapore Indoor Stadium, filled with adoring fans and bombastic K-pop — this is what HallyuPopFest will be, and you best get ready for it.

Featuring some of the biggest music names in the Korean wave, also known as "hallyu", the festival is a dream come true for many K-pop stans around Singapore and the region. If you're making your way down there on the weekend of September 7th to 9th, here's what you'll need to know.

The glorious line-up

Sure, when you're going to a festival, it's nice to know who's playing. But in the swift and highly capable hands of the powers-that-be behind HallyuPopfest, you'd better take down notes.

Here's the full line-up, by day:

Friday

Wanna One
Apink
Eric Nam
VICTON
MOMOLAND
Gugudan
Huh Gak
YU SEUNGWOO

Saturday

Wanna One
EXID
Eric Nam
SOYOU
AOA
ONF
SNUPER
MOMOLAND
JEONG SEWOON

Sunday

TAEYEON
BTOB
Eric Nam
NCT 127
Heize
UNB
Dreamcatcher
MYTEEN

If you noticed some things about this line-up that stuck out as odd — well, firstly, good eye — it's because with HallyuPopFest's unique programming, you'll get to see heart-throb Eric Nam host the festivities and perform every day. That's the kind of K-pop magic that rarely happens, folks.

Also, Wanna One will be preparing two different sets for HallyuPopFest, with each day presenting a new setlist of songs for fans. MOMOLAND, on the other hand, will perform a full concert on the 7th, along with a special showcase on the 8th.

It's also the Singapore debut for many of these acts, especially the up-and-coming names like ONF and Dreamcatcher, while blockbuster names like Taeyeon and Apink are making their swift return to these sunny shores — albeit this is the first time Taeyeon will perform a solo showcase here. A real treat for all the SNEs in the crowd.

There's also NCT 127, part of our Asia Spotlight alumnus, who are simply spellbinding!

The queue starts at 4.30pm for Cat 1 Standing ticket-holders, while doors open for all at 6.30pm.

The intimate Afternoon Showcases

While the main event will take place in the stadium later in the evening, there's also a special Afternoon Showcase for all ticketholders. The festival will allow free-standing on the arena floor for everyone to witness two special performances each day.

Here's the programme:

Friday

Gugudan
YU SEUNGWOO

Saturday

MOMOLAND
JEONG SEWOON

Sunday

Dreamcatcher
MYTEEN

With access to the arena floor limited, and strictly first-come-first-served, fans will be required to turn up early in order to enter. But, take note, organizers are not allowing fans to queue before 10.30am, which is an hour before doors open at 11.30am.

So the best thing you can do is to pace yourself and be quick — but it'll be all worth it for the showcase, which is touted as "more intimate" than the evening's proceedings.

The glitzy Red Carpet

It's not just fully-choreographed, explosive music action throughout the weekend. The festival is allowing the chance for fans to get up close and witness the stars making their way through the official HallyuPopFest Red Carpet, which starts at 3.30pm.

As with the showcase, only limited spots are available, and queueing will only commence at 1pm. It's less of a waiting game than it is one of stamina and skill. But, in the process, always remind yourselves to help each other out! It's simply more fun that way.

PS: There are also Global Auditions happening throughout the weekend! The auditions are open to ticket-holders, but registration has since been closed. If you know a friend who's been shortlisted, give them your full support!

That's one hefty programme, but be sure to read up on HallyuPopFest's comprehensive event guides (Daebak!/Standard), which will answer all and any questions you might have. For now, get ready your fan boards and prepare for a K-pop experience that's going to be truly unique.

If you're still on the fence for tickets, better hurry: tickets are sold by the day so do make sure to secure yours to watch as many acts as you can.

Here's the pricing per category:

Cat 1 / S$298
Cat 2 / S$268
Cat 3 / S$238
Cat 4 / S$198
Cat 5 / S$148

For the fans with deep pockets and deeper appreciation for all things K-pop, there's also the Daebak! Pass, priced at S$498 per day, which will include:

If 7th September seems too far for you, HallyuPopFest's having a little bit of a pre-event shindig in town on 1st September, at the *Scape Hallyu Day Out.

They'll be having a Sure Win Lucky Dip that will start at 1pm, with prizes ranging from Wanna One CDs to HallyuPopFest tickets. Every entrant will also be entered into the Grand Draw to stand a chance at claiming a pair of Daebak! tickets
