This 9-year-old Chinese girl is a mind-blowing dance prodigy

25 April 2018

She's danced with the best, grooved in the West, and she's only 9.

Amy, hailing from China, has made her mark in the world of contemporary hip-hop dance by being an amazingly young and gifted prodigy in her field. Her secret? Hours and hours of dancing.

Spending 3-4 hours of practice after each school day, she takes up to 9 hours to hone her skills on the weekends. While this sounds like the strict timetable drawn up by a tiger mom, Amy seems entirely dedicated to her craft — and at her age, that's downright admirable.

"I feel like dance has become very important in my life," she says. "When I dance, I feel very happy."

9-Year-Old Amy is China's glowing dance prodigy

With her love for dancing beginning at age 4, she's since become quite a celebrity in her homeland, raking up more than 200,000 followers on Instagram and continuing to dominate social media feeds with countless dance videos.

But even for the fervent dancer, education comes first.

Amy has her sights set on becoming a full-time dance instructor when she grows up, to teach equally passionate students around the world.
