WATCH: Falling Feathers' New Music Video Captures Loneliness (EXCLUSIVE PREMIERE)

28 February 2018

Singapore artist Falling Feathers is best known for exuberant pop singles like "Why So Serious?," but his latest single, "Dancing Alone," showcases his versatility as a songwriter, capturing deep loneliness in a heartfelt ballad. The track is a collab with Annie from Korea's Love x Stereo, who features prominently in both the vocals and in the song's official music video. You can watch the tear-jerking video right here in this exclusive premiere.

The video opens with a dark shock, as Falling Feathers gets run over by a speeding vehicle. "Dancing Alone"'s opening notes begin to play, and we transition to a gloomy funeral, where the artist's ghost stands singing, unseen by the mourners. When the chorus hits, we see him sitting on a staircase in the middle of a house party, surrounding by people who don't realize he's there. "And it feels like I'm dancing alone," he sings, "though the room's filled with people I know."

As the song plays on, we then see Annie sitting alone on a carousel, looking wistful. "I don't feel you close to me at all," she sings, while Falling Feathers' ghost watches over her. The rest of the video plays out just as emotionally, giving us a serious case of the feels as both artists sing their hearts out.

Falling Feathers – Dancing Alone

"Dancing Alone" is a song that sits close to the young Falling Feathers' heart. "It talks about how we can feel so alone, even though we may be surrounded by people," he shares. "There are hurdles in life that we have to overcome ourselves, especially if you're chasing dreams."

Annie was thrilled to work with him on such an emotional track. "He's such a talented young musician! Loved the whole experience, and very grateful to have worked with him," she says.

"Dancing Alone" is the third single from Falling Feathers' forthcoming EP, Pipe Dreams, which will be released later in 2018. Until then, you can watch a second video from the EP, Hush, at Falling Feathers' artist page.

Dancing Alone

I've been moving too fast
On a speeding train outta town
Before the feeling's gone make it count
So can you hear that I'm screaming for help
So loud so desperately wailing out wailing out
Before i get tongue tied i think i should turn around

And it feels like I'm dancing alone
Though the room's filled with people i know
I've moved on from this tragedy before
But it seems like I'm back for more

Now we're two feet apart
I don't feel you close to me all
Just like a candle light, fading in, fading out break the fall

And it feels like I'm dancing alone
Though the room's filled with people i know
I've moved on from this tragedy before
But it seems like I'm back for more

Speak now or forever hold your peace
Tell me what's in you're mind
Falling back into the labyrinth
it feels so hard to breathe

And it feels like I'm dancing alone
Though the room's filled with people i know
I've moved on from this tragedy before
But it seems like I'm dancing alone
Though the room's filled with people i know
I've moved on from this tragedy before
But it seems like back for more
