5SOS Are The Kings Of The New Broken Scene In Their ‘She’s Kinda Hot’ Video
4 August 2015
5SOS’ “She’s Kinda Hot” video is finally here and, well, it’s kinda hot.
The foursome dropped their video to their new single, the first off their upcoming second album, and it’s fun, colorful and solidifies them as the kings of the new broken scene.
Ashton recently told us that the song, which was co-written with Good Charlotte’s Benji and Joel Madden, is a track for their fans. Incorporating their love for comic books, the guys put a face behind the characters they sing about — a guy that plays too many video games, a guy in therapy and one that just can’t get a job. The video is intercut with shots of the band constructing a giant float in a garage, which they later parade down the street, attracting all their new broken scene kids to rock on with them for one giant party.
“It’s more of a song for revolution,” Ashton recently told us. “I think there’s so much more that meets the eye, or meets the ears with that song. It talks about mental struggle, to not fitting in and that’s OK. ’They say were losers and we’re alright with that.’ I think that’s a strong lyric in the song. It’s definitely a song for the new broken scene kids, which are our fans.”
No word if the guys group-kissed after making the video — which was directed by Isaac Rentz, the man behind their videos for “Good Girls,” “Amnesia” and “Don’t Stop” — much like they joked about doing after they wrote the song.
“It was one of those songs when you were writing it felt, I don’t know it has a magic to it,” Ashton Irwin told us.
Michael continued, “I remember we felt it at the end of the day. We were like you know what? That was a good song. We group-kissed.”
Hold up, really?
“I’m not going to run with we group-kissed, we shouldn’t print that. That’s… not a fact,” Ashton added.
