Earlier this month, everyone was gushing about one thing: Indian superstar Priyanka Chopra, recording Instagram videos of her boyfriend Nick Jonas, performing onstage at a concert in Brazil.
The two have spent a lot of time together recently, sharing just the right amount of mush on social media to help everyone feel the love.
Though, if we're being honest, Nick makes it easy.
Ever since he broke out into the industry as a member of the legendary Jonas Brothers, Nick has been winning hearts on and off the stage — thanks to a blend of talent, personality, and heart that's been his signature for as long as we can remember.
Way back in 2007, he scored his first Top 20 hit in the Billboard charts alongside his brothers at the age of 15. He became an instant heartthrob a year later starring on the TV show Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream. And on that same year, he met his good friend and business partner, Demi Lovato, on the set of his first movie, Camp Rock.
Along the way, he became a very visible spokesperson on a cause that was very close to his heart: helping children with diabetes. Having been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes himself, he has contributed, developed, and promoted more than a few charities that have helped fund research for the treatment and care of kids who had the condition.
And all that was just in the early part of his career. As Nick grew up, he just kept building on what he had: turning into an award-nominated solo artist, an actor with an ever-growing filmography, and a co-founder of Beyond Type 1, a charity for people living with his condition.
A BLOSSOMING MUSIC CAREER
As a solo singer-songwriter, Nick's produced chart-toppers like 'Chains', 'Jealous', and 'Levels'. His collaboration with Tove Lo, 'Close' from the album Last Year was Complicated, has over 217 million views on YouTube alone.
His song 'Home' in the soundtrack for the animated film Ferdinand earned him a Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Song.
And his latest single, 'Anywhere' with American producer Mustard, has gotten over 4 million views in the two months since its release.
A MAGNETIC SILVER SCREEN PRESENCE
As an actor, he's one of the most magnetic young stars onstage and onscreen. After a stint on Broadway in How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying, he starred in TV shows like Kingdom and Scream Queens.
Then, in 2017, after flexing his dramatic chops on Careful What You Wish For and Goat, he made a splash in comedy adventure Jumanji: Welcome to trhe Jungle.
Next year, we'll see him take on a more serious role in the sci-fi thriller Chaos Walking, which will also star Spider-Man himself, Tom Holland, and Star Wars lead Daisy Ridley.
Finally, as a philanthropist, Nick's helped over 35 different charities throughout the years, championing causes like AIDS and HIV awareness, hunger, homelessness, women's rights, education, and the environment, among dozens others.
So basically, Nick's an amazing musician with more than a decade of success behind him; an acting career that's set to explode; and a kindness that's allowed him to use his success to help countless people in need. What's not to love about a guy like that?
We can bet that there'll be more than a few people doing exactly what Priyanka did when Nick Jonas takes the stage at Hyperplay, the ASEAN region's first-ever music and esports festival.
They'll be whipping out their phones, posting videos on social media, and gushing about the electric performance he'll be putting on. Odds are, they'll be talking about it for a long while after that.
Who can blame them? Nick Jonas gives us every reason to love him.
Nick Jonas will be performing alongside Alessia Cara, Slot Machine and Afgan on MTV Spotlight @ Hyperplay Day 2, August 5th.
Watch him perform live on MTV Asia (Hyperplay show starts at 4pm SGT), or stream the entire esports + music event live at hyperplay.sg.
