Vogue's Cover Of Gigi Hadid & Zayn Malik Slammed For Insensitive Portrayal of 'Gender Fluidity'

14 July 2017
Uh-oh. Looks like Gigi and Zayn's new Vogue cover isn't just making headlines for being CUTE AF.

The story accompanying Gigi and Zayn's cover, titled "Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik Are Part Of A New Generation Embracing Gender Fluidity," has come under fire for claiming the couple are 'gender fluid.'

(Fyi, gender fluidity is a gender identity "best described as a dynamic mix of boy and girl." An individual who is Gender Fluid most often may feel like a mix of the two genders.)

A post shared by Gigi Hadid (@gigihadid) on

An excerpt from the article reads, "For these millenials, at least, descriptives like boy or girl rank pretty low on the list of important qualities - and the way they dress reflects that."

Some Twitter users couldn't understand why Vogue would use a heterosexual couple to represent the concept of gender fluidity, but there was one user who was pleased and commented that Zayn made it on the cover.

No word yet from Gigi or Zayn on the controversy...
