Alessia Cara is our final artist for MTV Spotlight @ Hyperplay!

4 July 2018

If you thought Nick Jonas was the last you'd hear of the lineup reveals for MTV Spotlight @ Hyperplay, you were sorely mistaken.

Joining the Jonas brother, along with CL, Afgan, Slot Machine and The Sam Willows is pop wunderkind Alessia Cara!

The singer-songwriter who has delivered hit singles like 'Here' and 'Scars To Your Beautiful', along with her incredibly successful Zedd collaboration 'Stay', is our final artist confirmed for Hyperplay, a mashup entertainment event that blends esports and music, setting the Singapore Indoor Stadium alight on August 4 and 5.

Zedd & Alessia Cara — 'Stay'

From performing acoustic covers on YouTube at age 13, to releasing her first hit single 'Here' at age 19, Alessia Cara's path in music has been directed by an incredible trajectory that led her to high-profile collaborations with Zedd, on the wistful 'Stay', and rapper Logic's '1-800-273-8255'.

The Canadian singer-songwriter released her debut album Know-It-All in 2015, but she's gearing up for a brand new album, scheduled for release later this year.

But even before that, Cara has achieved an enormous amount of success in pop music — and a lot of it has to do with her adept way with words and sounds.

Alessia Cara — 'Growing Pains'

With the rare distinction of making a pop hit out of introversion, Alessia Cara's profile as an impressively sharp and stirring songwriter of the millennial generation is bolstered with each new single — the latest being 'Growing Pains'.

Her remarkable talent has since gone through the world stages of Coldplay (being a supporting act on their last tour) and the house of Disney (performing 'How Far I'll Go' for the film Moana).

Cara's live shows are both exuberant and well-choreographed, so expect nothing less when she makes her live debut in Singapore at Hyperplay!
