It's easy to think the members of The Sam Willows are living life on their own terms, hitting streaming numbers as Singapore's eminent pop act.
But before songs like 'Take Heart' and 'Papa Money' dominated the airwaves, the four talented singers that make up this month's Asia Spotlight artists — siblings Ben and Narelle Kheng, Sandra Riley Tang and Jon Chua — were mere dreamers, with ambitions that blossomed through childhood and beyond.
And it's almost a match made in heaven for the four to converge into a single unit of major pop proportions.
For Jon, it's his grounded energy and laser-focused work attitude that ties the group together.
For Sandra, it's her determination to push through the biggest obstacles that has made her the source of energy that electrifies the whole group.
For Ben, his audaciousness to overcome every (and any) mistake has been a crucial key to their success over the years.
For Narelle, her insatiable curiosity has marked her as the daydreaming, freewheeling member — and with experience over the years, the intuitive heart of the group as well.
It's no surprise that I Know But Where turned out the way it did — a vibrant pop album brimming with anthems meant to reach out to the people at the back of the room.
