Jess Glynne had an epiphany in 2003—the first time she heard Amy Winehouse’s voice. ‘That was the moment I knew I wanted to be a singer too,’ the U.K.-born singer-songwriter recalls. Her first foray into the music industry was behind the scenes, working as part of a management team. But she soon began honing her skills as an artist: recording a demo, writing songs, and taking a music course at a London academy. By 2013 she was signed to a major record label.

Then in 2014, Jess had a major breakthrough moment, with her vocals featuring on Clean Bandit’s massive smash hit ‘Rather Be’—an instant #1 hit in the U.K. and the Grammy winner for Best Dance Recording. She also lent her voice to Route 94’s ‘My Love’, another U.K. chart-topper. Then it was time to introduce her own sound, which she describes as ‘hip hop with a soul voice and a sprinkling of pop.’ Debut single ‘Right Here’ entered the U.K. top 10, and April 2015’s follow-up ‘Hold My Hand’ went all the way to number one. Now, she’s readying her debut full-length album and gearing up to become a household name. That’s why Jess Glynne is MTV’s PUSH artist for June 2015! Stay tuned all month for exclusive videos, including an interview introducing her to fans and a tour of her London haunts.
