Gwen, I blame you. Your Toni Basil-inspired cheerleading gig raised the bar when it came to baffling lyrics. So Fergie's jumped on the bandwagon now and she's ruined one of my favorite nursery rhymes with her double entendre.
The BEPs' sexiest member might have gone solo with The Dutchess (was this misspelt on purpose?) but stamps of her former mates are still lingering. Besides producing duties, Will.I.Am can also be found on two tracks in the album and The BEPs are all featured on "Get Your Hands Up," which is followed by a weak hidden track "Maybe We Can Take A Ride."
So all this means The Dutchess doesn't stray very far from familiar BEPs territory. For her solo debut effort, Fergie's done a pretty regal job, although I still look on "London Bridge" with imperious disdain. There are far better tracks on the album, such as "Glamorous", "All That I Got (The Make Up Song)" or "Clumsy." Even on the Disney-styled ballad "Finally," Fergie manages to deliver the goods.
The Dutchess has landed semi-majestically, but I'd still appreciate it if she stayed away from my nursery rhymes in future.
