While the antics of Aliens in the Attic may not satisfy everyone in the humor department, the film still has its moments to coax even the faintest of smiles from the most stoic of audience members.
The Pearson family are on their summer vacation when the children in the house stumble upon knee-high aliens who pack a mighty punch, and are also determined to take over the world. Armed with broken tennis rackets, skateboards and catapults, the Pearson children take control and unleash one hell of an adventure.
The main characters in this film may be played by a cast of mostly young unknowns, but they turn in credible performances.
There is the rebellious teenager, the school stud milking his recently divorced father, notorious twins who are inseparable, and the adorable and innocent little girl who is the baby of the group.
The aliens did not disappoint either; as far as knee-high, make-believe characters go, they were quite delightfully so full of character, unlike a certain Hollywood singer who takes on the role of a bimbotic girlfriend like it was second nature to her. Perhaps it was?
Having grandma somersaulting through the air and sliding down banisters to deliver roundhouse kicks - all done while being manipulated with a remote control no less - adds flavor to this family adventure film.
Aliens in the Attic may not match up to the good old classic family films back in the 80s and early 90s; think Home Alone and the likes but it must be said that a lot of heart has been put into the making of this film. That coupled with the wise decision to not give Ashley Tisdale more than 10 lines makes Aliens in the Attic worthy of your time.
