The title and featured cast of The Bucket List are obvious hints to what the movie is about. Starring Oscar heavyweights Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman as Edward Cole and Carter Chambers respectively, The Bucket List tells the story of two men who are well past their prime and about to "kick the bucket" due to the impending doom of cancer. Both men -- one a swingingly single multi-millionaire and the other a blue collar mechanic with a loving family of kids and grandchildren -- made a pact to finish the list of "must-dos" before they throw in the white flag to destiny.

It's a simple premise. Haven't all of us drafted a similar list one point or another in our lives? But for Edward and Carter, time is running out. Add in old age and a lifetime of regrets, The Bucket List is poignantly moving while at the same time, deals with seemingly morbid issues with a sarcastic wit. It's also a journey of self-discovery, redemption and mostly importantly, friendship in the most unlikely places and with the least person you would expect you'd be friends with.

Although the plot is a predictable no-brainer, what make The Bucket List a thoroughly enjoyable film are definitely the seasoned players. Channeling his roles in Something's Gotta Give, As Good As It Gets and About Schmidt, Nicholson delivers the aging, self-obsessed but and filthy rich Edward Cole with perfection and great comedic timing. Freeman, who often plays the role of a wise and devout man, brings out the heart and essence of Carter Chambers, whom paired with Edward; make one of the most memorable tag teams on screen.
