Close your eyes, but don't forget, what you have heard

When you pen down words like these as a teen, you don't expect much to gain, except for a little recognition of your creativity. Or perhaps, to win a little trophy at some competition. Little did premiere lyricist, Gary Barlow, know that those very words would take him on a long and successful journey (and a gazillion more lines along the way) with Take That.

That's right! Staging a comeback far bigger than anyone could have imagined, it is now time for Take That to release their 2nd album, since their return to the sides of their adoring fanbase in 2006. Back with The Circus, this band has proven once again that they are anything but a freak show.

The album goes through a wave of songs, from epic ballads to up-tempo, street bobbing tunes. In contrast, the opening number, "The Garden," is tinged with a magical feel. Following that is lead single, "Greatest Day," which despite how it's titled, is the least captivating as compared to what comes along after. Barlow, who is renowned for his smooth vocals and heartfelt emotions, sings circles around "Said It All" and "The Circus." While "Julie and Hello" features Owen, bringing the despondent mood up a notch with his cheerful, bouncy vocals.

7 minute long track, "Hold Up A Light," is skip-down-the-road worthy and a refreshing way to end a TT album. If you like surprises, don't hit that 'next' button when you hear a pause at the near end of the song.

One of the highlights of this album is definitely the 'breath endurance test' song "How Did It Come To This?" Penned and sung by the usually, vocally-reserved, Jason Orange, the inspiration for the lyrics comes from a troubled female songstress, living on Camden Town, affectionately known as Amy Winehouse. Another top pick would be the melancholy lament, "What Is Love," which features Howard Donald on lead vocals. Both of these singles are treats for any hardcore Take That fans.

The Circus is no doubt, an amazing album with beautiful songs that showcase powerful vocals and great lyrics. It will certainly please old fans as well as attract new ones.

Go on, close your eyes and listen.
