Friendly Advice : Don't take on classics for your debut album

Official website: http://www.mig-music.com

There is a reason why classics are called classics. Firstly, it is a piece of work of the first rank that demonstrates enduring quality and secondly, it is highly honored as a definitive piece in its field. It stands best in the test of time, outplaying and outlasting any other individual's humble attempt in trying to achieve its previous glory.

Unfortunately for MiG, no amount of change in composition can do the classics in which he undertook any justice, placing him in a precarious position to either be known as the guy who 'dared to try' or the guy who 'took on legends beyond his means'.

Taking hits such as The Police's "Wrapped Around Your Finger" and Seal's "Kiss From A Rose", he injected his soulful interpretation but even then, it seemed to stray not too far away from the original. It felt somewhat awkward, like he wanted to do something big with the songs but stopped halfway as if he was trapped under some imaginary creative lid.

Fortunately for MiG though, his voice is flawless and even mesmerizing at times and there is a whole lot of potential bubbling under. A front-runner in "Rockstar INXS" and fronting "We Will Rock You", the musical, MiG has got tons of experience in giving the best live performance.

Perhaps this album was a stepping stone, a gateway of sorts, to a splendor of new and original tracks from him in the near future. It is pretty evident that this album took him beyond his comfort zone and the decision to take on such great songs really shows that he has balls of steel to succeed. Remember, renditions should never be judged. They should be taken for just what they are.

Nothing explosive on this album, but let's wait for the next shall we? That's when I reckon things get really fired up and wicked!

In the meanwhile, MiG would make an excellent accompaniment for a romantic night in.
