Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle
(Columbia)
By Thin
Choice Cut : ''Feel Good Time,'' ''Danger! High Voltage,'' ''Nas' Angels... The Flyest,'' ''A Girl Like You''
Sounds Like:Something old (Bon Jovi's"Livin' On A Prayer,"Journey's"Any Way You Want It"), something new (Pink's"Feel Good Time"), something borrowed (Edwyn Collins's overused"A Girl Like You"--Ally McBealanybody?), and something blue (Coco Lee's campy and catchy"All Around The World").You May Have Heard:Oldies like Donna Summer's"Last Dance,"The Beach Boys'"Surfer Girl,"and Andy Gibb's"I Just Wanna Be Your Everything"have been around the block and back.We Fancy:Nas's deviously groovy"Nas' Angels... The Flyest"has Indian singer Rajeshwari doing her thang against Nas's hip-hop beats. Pink's"Feel Good Time"with William Orbit is one single that combines the sexy snarl of Pink with Orbit's signature multi-layered sound. Electric Six's"Danger! High Voltage"seems inspired by the likes of Dead Or Alive and Motley Crue. And no matter how many times"A Girl Like You"is recycled, it still manages to sound smoldering. We're Not Sure About:The amalgam of songs old and new makes the album distinctly uneven. And the person responsible for the inclusion of MC Hammer's"U Can't Touch This"is seriously out of touch. It is one thing to hear the song when Cameron Diaz's cute tush is wiggling in your face, but another to listen to it without buxom babes to distract you.Verdict:High on gloss and low on quality. Indecisive too. Who knows, this could be a hit with pubescent fans going through an identity crisis.
