Sounds Like:Some say the movieCradle 2 The Graveis like an extended version of a hip-hop video. If that is the case, then the soundtrack should be likened to an extended version of an explosive hip-hop track, featuring collaborative efforts by big names such as DMX, Eminem, 50 Cent, Clipse, Fat Joe, M.O.P, and more. Street cred brims over. You May Have Heard:The first single off the soundtrack,"X Gon' Give It To Ya."Those who saw the movie should remember the opening track --"Go To Sleep"-- by Eminem, DMX, and Obie Trice. We Fancy:Fans who are anticipating a follow-up to DMX's last LP -- 2001'sThe Great Depression-- will not be disappointed. Not only does DMX produce, he also offers four brand new tracks. This dog has the rap game firmly in his hands, dropping his rhyme bombs with a hard slammin' style that few rappers can emulate. The aggressive"X Gon' Give It To Ya"comes at you swiftly with a dirty bass groove, while"Go To Sleep"(produced by Eminem) is the highlight of the album, with a venomous chorus and a line targeted at Ja Rule, whom DMX has a beef with.Dissing aside, DMX also showcases artists -- Bazaar Royale, Jinx&Loose, Big Stan, and Kashmir -- from his label Bloodline Records. Together, they serve up an intense ride into the ghetto, and their thuggish rawness will be relished by hip-hop homies. We're Not Sure About:The nonstop flow of hardcore rap can be overwhelming. Thankfully, Foxy Brown softens the machismo with her sensual"My Life (Cradle 2 The Grave)."Even the toughest dog in the hood needs a sensitive side.Verdict:As movies go,Cradle 2 The Graveis no8 Mile. But the soundtrack comes close.
