Sounds Like:Unlike the first two soundtracks, which were largely based on the kitschy '60s,"Austin Powers In Goldmember"takes a time dip into the '70s where funk and disco rule the day. Expect lots of bling-bling and big-haired soul.You May Have Heard:Things aren't good if they ain't doubled for Austin Powers. (Japanese twins, anyone?) On the soundtrack, Beyonce Knowles and Britney Spears provide a smashing start with"Work It Out"and"Boys (Co-Ed Remix)"(definitely one of Britney's best tracks to date) both written and produced by Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo, otherwise known as The Neptunes or N.E.R.D.We Fancy:Put on your afros and bell bottoms and show us your dance steps nicked from"Saturday Night Fever!"Jive along to Earth, Wind And Fire's"Shining Star,"Angie Stone's"Groove Me,"Soul Hooligan's cover of ELO's"Evil Woman,"Foxxy Cleopatra's"Hey Goldmember,"Dr. Dre's remix of The Rolling Stones'"Miss You."It's the 1970's all over again with the funk 'n' soul grooves! But the fun doesn't end there. Dr. Evil does the hip-hop thang in his version of Jay-Z's"Hard Knock Life,"and the soundtrack gets a comedic and sentimental twist with Austin Powers's"Daddy Wasn't There"and Susanna"The Bangles"Hoffs's rework of Burt Bacharach's"Alfie."There's just so much going on that you don't where to start. And for those who are still keen on a bit of the groovy '60s, check out Smash Mouth's catchy new tune,"Ain't No Mystery!"We're Not Sure About:Beyonce sounds a lot like Kelis on the shouty and almost tuneless"Work It Out."Where exactly is the hook?Verdict:Add a huge chunk of funk, a little bit of pop, a dash of hip-hop, and some brilliant covers for garnishing and you know you have a groovy soundtrack, baby! Austin Powers never disappoints!
