American Pie 2

Our Rating: 8/10

Sounds like:An Omnimax experience of an American frathouse party, minus the visual titillation, which you can get from the movie. You May Have Heard:Oleander's"Halo,"which was reviewed on CD Reviews a while ago. Other tracks from acts like Blink-182, Green Day, Alien Ant Farm, and 3 Doors Down are also bound to hit the airwaves with alarming speed, since they are the very kind of music that hotrod DJs like to spin to prove their currency. We Fancy:The exuberance is infectious, the mood is inviting, the six-pack is waiting in the background. What's not to like? We're Not Sure About:Play this CD when the sun is shining -- both inside and out -- because we don't think it goes well with dark clouds, literally and metaphorically. Elsewhere, listeners who have so far only heard"Follow Me"will find a totally different Uncle Kracker on the aggressive"(I'm Gonna) Split This Room In Half."Also, the boys of Fenix*Tx seem to be trapped in a time warp, as they are still bearing a torch for has-been Hollywood ingenue"Phoebe Cates."Verdict:Every song sounds like an intriguing episode from"Saved By The Bell,"only racier. With the inclusion of Angela Ammons and Lucia, this soundtrack even avoids committing a politically incorrect faux paus by being totally male-oriented. If you enjoyed the film, you would want to keep this as a memento, since the yearbook is not available.
