In Summary : Rock 'n' roll your heart away with the best rock tunes on this great soundtrack!
Sounds Like:A darn good rock 'n' roll compilation! You May Have Heard:Well, most of the tunes were featured in the movie, so if you've seen"A Knight's Tale,"you would find the tunes familiar. The album features classics like Queen's"We Will Rock You,"David Bowie's"Golden Years,"Eric Clapton's"Further Up The Road,"and Third Eye Blind's"Eye Conqueror"(which wasn't featured in the movie). And oh, Robbie Williams's fans will be pleased to know that this album features the"We Are The Champions"duet that he does with Queen. We Fancy:The classics and new songs alike! Some of the tunes were first recorded long before I was born, but still sound just as fantastic. Robbie&Queen's"We Are The Champions"is a blast and I don't know what's scarier, the fact that Robbie's able to imitate Freddie Mercury's singing style or that he looks so much like the singer in the music video for this song. Then there's David Bowie's"Golden Years,"a track that's always been able to get my head bobbing along with its uniqueness. Also, among my favorites is the underrated Dan Powell track called"Pieces."Though not in the movie, there's something haunting about this rock ballad that sends shivers down my spine. We're Not Sure About:I loved the movie! How could one not? It was so much fun! So I guess I was rather disappointed that this soundtrack only featured one short bit of Carter Burwell's film dialogue, called"One Of Your Own."The movie had so many wonderful lines and it would have been brilliant if most the tunes were separated by one-liners from the hilarious script.Verdict:Writer-director Brian Helgeland dared to use rock music to accompany this tale about a medieval jousting champion and well, Brian comes out as the true champion here. Instead of some boring, overly dramatic score, he chooses rock tunes carefully to interpret each part of the movie. Daring to be different does have its advantages!
