(Curb Records/Warner)

By Sheng Yuen
Our Rating: 7/10

Choice Cut : ''Only Time Will Tell,'' ''You Inspire Me,'' ''Love Ain't Nothin' (But A Monkey On Your Back,'' ''It's 2 A.M.''

Sounds Like:A musical cocktail with dashes of country music and drops of sentimental bluegrass. You May Have Heard:Newcomer Tamara Walker, who has been featured on soundtracks of recent flicks"Coyote Ugly"and"Driven."Walker delivers the title track"Angel Eyes"on this album. As another country crossover who is riding the wave stirred up by trailblazers like Shania Twain, Faith Hill, and LeAnn Rimes, her hillbilly sensibilities will soon invade your senses when her solo release"Askin' Too Much"hits the stores. We Fancy:Like vintage wine, Etta James manages to pack more punch with each growl in"Only Time Will Tell"than the collective contribution of the other soul sisters featured on this CD.We're Not Sure About:If rumors of J. Lo's diva-esque demands on film sets are to be believed, we wonder why she didn't insist on adding one of her mellow pieces to this slow-burner of a soundtrack. Her sassy vocals would have upped the sexy quotient for this otherwise routine release.Verdict:Not too exciting. Many of these tracks are the musical equivalent of raindrops rolling down a windowpane -- nice to behold in passing, but forgettable. Even firebrand LeAnn Rimes turns in an understated rendition here. Without the clout of major name artists, this album is likely to end up in a discount bin soon.
