In Summary : Have some fun with animal-inspired rap 'n' roll.
Sounds Like:A non-stop party featuring the best of American rap, R&B, and funky pop.You May Have Heard:The rousing singles,"Cluck Cluck"by The Product G&B with Wyclef, and"Do U Wanna Roll (Dolittle Theme)"by R.L., Snoop Dogg, and Lil' Kim.We Fancy:>b?"Do U Wanna Roll (Dolittle Theme),"a fun-filled ditty delivered by the collective charms of the song's three artists. In the same rollicking style are tracks like"Tameeka"(Mario with Fabolous) and"Absolutely Not"(Deborah Cox) -- you must check out the sampling of frogs croaking on the latter track! Those who prefer boy-band fare can find reprieve in"We Fit Together"(by Orlando-based O-Town) and"Life Is Good"(LFO with M.O.P.), while Jimmy Cozier's"Two Steps"glides gracefully into Craig David's cool-funk terrain. And don't forget to check out Angie Stone's infectious"Makin' Me Feel."We're Not Sure About:"Cluck Cluck,"even though it has been singled out as hit material. The song title itself is pretty daft and the groove uninspired. Somehow, a rap song about chicken (even if the reference is a metaphor for some deeper meaning) just doesn't sound quite right.Verdict:This album goes beyond being a souvenir of the Eddie Murphy film, showing that much thought has gone into the selection of tracks.
