You can bet that Scorpions will stick to a tried and tested formula, although that formula might be reinterpreted in various forms throughout their career. For example,"What U Give U Get Back,"the single off their album"Eye II Eye,"is reminiscent of"Winds Of Change,"their 1989 Glasnost celebratory hit often heard within a 100-m radius of any pub.Not only have Scorpions traveled a long way through the history of music, but they have also made their mark in politics. One of the first few Western rock bands to play behind the Iron Curtain, they are also the first-ever Western band to meet a Soviet leader at the Kremlin. For a band whose discography spans a total of 14 albums, Scorpions really have little left that they have not sung about, except perhaps love."10 Light Years Away"echoes the sounds of Bon Jovi, while"A Moment in a Million Years"brings the band back to their roots -- an acoustic ballad that only Scorpions themselves can come up with. Altogether,"Eye II Eye"is a calmer yet well produced album. You won't like it any other way.
