Jane Zhang first hit the big time when she won China’s immensely popular singing competition, Supergirl in 2005, a show along the lines of American Idol. Affectionately nicknamed “the dolphin Princess,” this beautiful 24-year old is not only effectively multi-lingual, but also has an amazing vocal range akin to Mariah Carey’s whistle register.

Jane’s first album, The One contains a small collection of English songs, an album which the singer had flown to the United States to produce. Her sophomore record, Update, was released in 2007, and is her attempt to branch out into other genres of Mando-pop, combining elements of R&B and jazz.

Among some of the accolades she has collected, is the Favorite Female Singer in China Award at the 2007 TVB8 Awards, as well as Best stage-performer and Best Artist- Beijing, at the Seventh Chinese Music Billboard Awards. Jane Zhang is China’s rising star, for sure.
