Music For Relief (MFR) is raising funds for those impacted by recent disasters in Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands. Over 6 million people have been affected; hundreds of thousands are displaced and in need of shelter, food, clean water, and medical supplies. Hospitals, schools, homes and in some cases entire villages have been destroyed.

About Music for Relief:
Founded by members of the band Linkin Park, Music for Relief is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing aid to victims of natural disasters and the prevention of such disasters. Since its inception in 2005, Music for Relief has raised over $3 million for the victims of the tsunami tragedy in Southeast Asia, hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Hanna, Gustav & Ike, Wildfires in Southern California and Victoria Australia, Cyclones Sidr and Aila in Bangladesh, Cyclone Nargis in Myanmar, the 5.12 earthquake in China, the cholera outbreak in Zimbabwe, and a tornado in Mena, Arkansas.
MFR has organized a benefit concert featuring multi-platinum artists, sent musicians and volunteers to Southeast Asia and the U.S. Gulf Coast to help rebuild and donate supplies to people in need, and planted over 810,000 trees to help reduce global warming. Awareness and Action
Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia & Laos:
Typhoon Ketsana brought 14 to 21 inches of rain within 6 hours which is the equivalent to a typical month's rainfall during monsoon season, creating the worst flooding in over 40 years in the Philippines capital Manila and its surrounding areas. Reports indicate that over 1.9 million people are affected by the typhoon, with 570,000 displaced and 246 deaths. Tropical Storm Parma also brought flooding and landslides to North Philippines when it made landfall on October 3 and when it returned on October 9. Throughout Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos 728 people have died as a result of the storms and it is estimated that over 6 million people have been impacted.
Indonesia:
Over a 48 hour period two major earthquakes, magnitude 7.6 and 6.8, struck the west coast of the island of Sumatra in Indonesia causing severe damage. The government has reported 809 deaths and 265,000 houses destroyed. Additionally, heavy rain and landslides have left thousands of additional survivors displaced. Music for Relief is partnering with the Red Cross to help deliver immediate relief including food, medical care and shelter.
Pacific Islands:
An 8.0 magnitude earthquake followed by a series of tsunamis, affecting the Pacific islands of Samoa, Tonga and America Samoa. Pago-Pago the capitol of American Samoa was badly damaged. The death toll is currently at 146, with hundreds missing. Sixty villages have been completely destroyed. The Red Cross reports 15,000 people are affected, with 3,000 homeless.
