'American Idol' And 'Rockstar Supernova' Musicians Will Play Live At Singapore Drumfest 2008 - Concert In The Park!
By News Desk
You've watched them on TV, now see them live. Musicians from popular Reality TV shows American Idol and Rockstar INXS & Supernova are coming to town!
Happening from September 13-14, Singapore Drumfest 2008's Concert In The Park and Main Event will feature the best in music. Learn from the world's top drummers, vocalists and guitarists in the day at the Main Event and rock out at Concert In The Park in the evening. Expect the best local and foreign music acts with 5 hours of non-stop live entertainment each night. Passes for the 2-Day Main Event and Concert In The Park are limited to only 500!
The venue for Concert In The Park (6pm - 11pm) has been moved to Fort Canning Centre, as a wet weather contingency plan over the weekend of September 13 and 14. This rocking event features American Idol's drummer Teddy Campbell and R&B Singer Sy Smith, and Rockstar's Storm Large. Watch rock powerhouse Magnetico, featuring Rockstar's drummer Nate Morton, guitarist Rafael Moreira and bassist Corey McCormick. Electronic music aficionados will love Johnny Rabb and Chris Patterson's DrumJockey (drum 'n' bass). Celebrating the best of regional and local acts, Concert In The Park also features Tribal Tide featuring Mohd Noor (World Latin), The Strikeforce, Mamady Keita & the Lila Drums Djembe Project, Wicked Aura Batucada, Lewis Pragasam (drummer for David Tao), Mr. Q (Jay Chou's drummer) and Dylan Elise (New Zealand's 18-year-old drum prodigy)!
Main Event (12pm - 6pm) brings you master-classes by the very artists performing in Concert In the Park. For drummers, learn from Teddy Campbell (best known for his work on American Idol), Johnny Rabb (World's Fastest Drummer and drum 'n' bass maestro), Virgil Donati (drummer for Planet X & Steve Vai), Dylan Elise and Mr. Q. Don't forget to check out Malaysia's Lewis Pragasam, Singapore's very own Brandon Khoo (Shirlyn Tan and the UnXpected) and percussion master Mohd Noor, who will be holding a 'World Of Drums' workshop where he will introduce different kinds of percussion drums.
For budding guitarists, learn from Rockstar's house band's guitar god Rafael Moreira, who also happens to be a master guitarist and guest lecturer at Musician's Institute. There will be a special band masterclass held by Rockstar's house band (featuring Nate Morton, Rafael Moreira and Corey McCormick)! Vocalists should also check out classes by American Idol's resident vocalist Sy Smith and Rockstar Supernova's larger-than-life contestant, Storm Large.
Look out for free classes and workshops on DIY recording, electric and bass guitar that are open to the public, as well as the F&B and merchandise stalls at the festival grounds. Expect a great music extravaganza from Singapore Drumfest 2008 this September 13 and 14!
