Singapore Drumfest Launches Grand Finals for Singapore Band Challenge 2008

Get ready for the final showdown! The finalists for Singapore Drumfest 2008's Singapore Band Challenge 2008 (SBC) will battle it out at the Grand Finals come August 23 at the ARENA, Clarke Quay (3B, River Valley Road).

The final eight bands from SBC's 17 & Under Category and the 18 & Above Category will pit their musicianship against each other at the ARENA, Clarke Quay from 2-5pm. Acts to look for include the cutting edge dance act Sonofa, Juxtapose (a quartet who blends funk and soul to perfection), Damage Control (an instrumental rock act), horror metal outfit Psychotherapy, power rock trio Streetsites, as well as the three 17 & Under bands namely Della Madre, Polarix and Perpetual Flame.

The grand finals for Drum Challenge Asia (DCA) were held on August 16 at the ARENA, Clarke Quay. Er Chow Kiat took home the grand champion title for the 19 & Under category while Patrick Ang Chai Poh was the grand champion for the 20 & Above category. Indonesia's 15-year-old drum prodigy, Demas Narawangsa, also took home the award for Best Foreign Contestant and vowed both the audience and the judges with his impressive showcase performance on the drum set.

The prelims of the Drum Challenge and Singapore Band Challenge including the highly popular *scape Drum Circle were held at *scape Youth Park, where *scape prides itself as being the space that uncovers and showcases young talents. *scape is the official event partner of Singapore Drum Fest.
