Club 8 And Pelle Carlberg's Live Debut In Singapore

Club 8 and Pelle Carlberg, two of Sweden's finest indie pop acts, will be performing in a special one-night-only double bill performance in Singapore next month.

Formed in 1998 by Karolina Komstedt (Poprace) and Johan Angergård (Acid House Kings, Poprace), Club 8 is known for their blend of dancey indie electro-pop. Through the years, their work has started a whole new indie pop scene in Indonesia and gave bossa nova a new face in Spain. The band is also widely hailed as one of Sweden's most important indie pop bands. Their fellow Labrador Records label-mate, Pelle Carlberg, has a long varied musical history as well, with him taking on lead vocals duties for bands like Amanda om natten and Edson. For his solo work, Carlberg brings on a sound that is both catchy and intimate, and features even more of his characteristic bitter observations, laced with his wry humor and un-trendy production.

This performance is a special collaboration between KittyWu Records, Esplanade -Theatres on the Bay, and Catalyst Action Network. It's also part of Labrador Records's first ever Asia tour, which also includes shows in Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur.

Says Lesley Chew, spokesperson for KittyWu Records, "Singapore's indie scene is not only thriving, it's growing. Indie music has been getting a lot more airtime from local radio stations and there is definitely strong support for many foreign indie acts here. We're very excited to be bringing Club 8 and Pelle Carlberg into Singapore for the first time, and we're looking forward to a great show."
