50 Cent, Akon, Soulja Boy Added To List Of VMA Performers
By Larry Carroll (MTV.com)
As the VMA bullet train continues to charge down the tracks, several new high-profile passengers have hopped on board, further ensuring that the September 9 show will be a memorable ride.
50 Cent, Akon and 17-year-old "Crank Dat" rapper/dance sensation Soulja Boy have been added to the list of the show's performers. The eclectic crew will team up with Kanye West, Rihanna, Foo Fighters, Fall Out Boy, Nelly Furtado, Timbaland, Chris Brown, Mark Ronson, T-Pain, Cee-Lo, Common and Gym Class Heroes to create a stage so star-studded that the power given off might just rival the famed skylight atop Las Vegas' Luxor casino.
Soon to be mouthing the now-famous words "And the Moonman goes to ..." are the newest presenters, a list that includes Transformers stars Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox; The Kingdom actors Jamie Foxx and Jennifer Garner; starlets Rosario Dawson, Pamela Anderson, Jennifer Hudson and Nicole Scherzinger; the Entourage boys; along with VMA vets Robin Thicke, Alicia Keys and Eve.
In addition to their stage-rocking duties, Justin Timberlake and Timbaland are set to host a Fantasy Suite party, with the very busy Timbaland also serving as official maestro of the VMAs. Critically acclaimed producer, artist and DJ Mark Ronson is scheduled to rock the VMA party in the Pearl with help from his turntables, horn section and surprise guests, while dozens of VIP-only bashes are already booking up clubs all over Sin City.
