Franz Ferdinand And Other Rock Stars Have Heart For Animals
By How Kay Lii
It's always nice to know that our favourites artists take time out of their busy schedules to make a stand for what they believe in. Although Valentine's Day has passed, top acts such as Franz Ferdinand, The Magic Numbers, Meg White of The White Stripes, Aussie rockers The Vines and hot new Hong Kong band Soler made unique Valentine's Day cards for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Asia-Pacific's "Have a Heart for Animals" Campaign.
Franz Ferdinand signed on a heart-shaped card and included drawings of dogs, while The Vines signed and drew pictures of animals, including a fish, a rabbit and a lion.
Other stars from around the region who donated cards included Australian musicians Jimmy Barnes, Vanessa Amorosi, The Living End, Youth Group and band of the moment Wolfmother.
The campaign aims to spread the message that all animals should be treated with kindness and compassion. The cards will be auctioned off later this month on PETA's youth-oriented website peta2.com with proceeds going to PETA's work in Asia.
