At Last! Man Of Steel Photos Surface
By James Montgomery (MTV.com)
Now that's more like it.
One day after fans got an exclusive first look at actor Brandon Routh decked out as Superman's mild-mannered alter ego, Clark Kent -- a look that could best be described as an über-wimpy combination of The O.C.'s Seth Cohen and some smarmy record-store clerk - new images have surfaced of Routh donning the familiar red-and-blue of the actual Man of Steel.
The new Superman costume is an interesting blend of old and new, combining a retro color scheme (darker red boots and cape) and famous "S" logo with a futuristic belt and an overall leaner, meaner look. Adding to the timeless feel of Superman Returns is the promotional material for the film, which features a futuristic blue-and-chrome overhaul of Supe's logo.
It's not exactly clear in which era the film takes place. Other photos taken from the Australian set show actress Kate Bosworth (who plays Superman's love interest, Lois Lane) modeling a hairstyle straight out of the 1940s.
Superman Returns also stars Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor and James Marsden as Richard White, Supe's chief rival for Lane's affections. The film is directed by The Usual Suspects and X-Men mastermind Bryan Singer, and will blast into theaters on June 30, 2006.
