2004 MTV Style Awards Sizzled With Style And Glam

The 2004 MTV Style Awards roared to a successful climax tonight at the Shanghai Oriental TV Studio. Co-produced by MTV China, Shanghai Media group (SMG) and CCTV-6 (Movie Channel), the eagerly awaited ceremony was flooded with stylish media magnets, trendsetters and celebrities from the music, movie and sport arena in the Greater China region and Korea, in recognition of their contribution to the exciting entertainment industry in China. The 2004 MTV Style Awards will premier on MTV China 24 hour channel on Saturday, 4 December 2004 at 11pm, and will also broadcast on CCTV-6 and OTV Entertainment channel, reaching over 300 million homes nationally.

The glittering night kicked off with dazzling stars and celebrities arriving at the venue in their latest outfits, glamorously waiving and smiling at screaming fans alongside the red carpet. The 2004 MTV Style Awards featured a total of 38 awards categories, from which 16 were selected by viewers via MTV's website and SMS voting. Superstar Alan Tam was presented top honor Most Stylish International Chinese Music Contribution Award for his worldwide influence and achievement in the Chinese music industry. Cecilia Cheung, Joey Yung, Karen Mok and Zhao Wei each garnered two awards for their popularity and fashion sense widely recognized by fans across the Greater China region.

In keeping with MTV's pro-social stance, Pu Cunxin and Jiang Wenli were awarded the Staying Alive Award for their commitment and contribution to promoting awareness about and prevention of HIV/AIDS in China.

MTV VJ Li Xia, OTV's Chao Kefan and CCTV's Ju Wenpei opened the show in their sparkling good looks, keeping the show moving in vogue. In a night full of entertainments and excitements, the evening culminated by The Flowers, Joey Yung, Chao Xun, Wang Rong, Dylan Kwok, Dadawa, Pu Shu, Chen Kun, Zhao Wei, Karen Mok, Alan Tam, Dao Lang, Eason Chan and Korean pop idol Jang Na Ra's feverish performances.

The star-studded talents list included Anson Hu, Dai Jun, Edell, Fan Bingbing, Guo Jingjing, Hu Bing, Jiang Qinqin, Jiang Wenli, Liu Ye, Long Kuanjiuduan, Lu Chuan, Lu Yan, Luo Xuejuan, Pu Cunxin, Tian Liang, Wang Xiaofeng, Wang Zhen, Xiao Ke, Yu Quan, Zhang Weiping from China; Bowie Tsang, Donnie Yen, Eric Tsang, Gillian Chung, Jaycee Fong, Nicolas Tse, Victor Chan from Hong Kong; Victor Huang from Taiwan.
