R.E.M.'s Album, Tour In October
By Alyssa Rashbaum (MTV.com)
The sun will come out October 5 for R.E.M. fans.
The band confirmed on its Web site on Wednesday that the title of its new album will be Around the Sun. The group's 13th studio album, which follows 2001's Reveal, will be released on October 5. After playing five dates with Bruce Springsteen on the Vote for Change Tour, R.E.M. will then hit the road for a headlining North American trek that begins October 13 in Los Angeles.
"Leaving New York" is slated as the first single from Around the Sun while other songs on the album include "I'm Gonna DJ," which was inspired by the 1999 World Trade Organization riots in Seattle, and "Final Straw," which will also be included in the Future Soundtrack of America compilation.
The Vote for Change Tour runs from October 1-10 and hits nine key battleground states. R.E.M. will perform with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Bright Eyes, and John Fogerty during the tour.
